What's Next?

The Anchorage Assembly has set dates to begin their review of the Draft Hillside District Plan. The dates and location of the meetings are listed below. The Planning Commission finished its work on the Draft Hillside District Plan, and its recommendation can be found in PZC Resolution No. 2009-047 .

    March 19, 2010
    11am - 12pm, Mayor's Conference Room, City Hall (632 West 6th Ave.)
    The Draft Hillside District Plan will be discussed in an Assembly Work Session.
  • Assembly Public Hearing
    March 23, 2010
    6:00 pm, Assembly Chambers, Z.J. Loussac Library (3600 Denali St.)
    The Hillside District Plan will be introduced and heard by the Anchorage Assembly.

  • Planning and Zoning Commission

    August 31, 2009
    The Hillside District Plan public hearing was held before the Planning and Zoning Commission (PZC) on June 15. Following the preparation of an Issue-Response document, the PZC began deliberations on the Hillside District Plan on August 31. A subcommittee of commissioners was identified to work with staff to bring recommendations back to the full PZC.

    PZC deliberations were originally scheduled for Wednesday, September 16. However, the subcommittee has not yet had the opportunity to resolve all outstanding issues; furthermore, one member of the subcommittee is unavailable on September 16. As a result, the September 16 PZC meeting has been cancelled and commission deliberations on the Hillside Plan have been rescheduled to Monday, October 12, in the Assembly Chambers of the Z.J. Loussac Library at 6:30 p.m. The Hillside District Plan is expected to be the sole case scheduled for that evening.

    The staff memo with subcommittee recommendations will be available one week prior to the October 12 meeting. If you have any questions, please contact the Planning Department at 343-7921.


  • Planning and Zoning Commission Public Hearing
    June 15, 2009
    PZC Case No. 2009-090:  The public hearing was closed the same evening.  The deadline for comments was extended through July 6.

    The Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled to deliberate and take action on the public hearing draft on Monday, August 31, at 6:30 p.m. in the Assembly Chambers of the Z.J. Loussac Library.  After the Commission takes action on the Plan, a recommendation will be forwarded to the Municipal Assembly in the form of a resolution.

    The Commission was originally scheduled to take action on August 17.  Due to the large volume of comments received, more time was needed to address the issues in an issue-response document for the August 31 meeting.  The document will be available for review soon after August 17.

  • Public Workshop
    October 27, 2008

    Anyone with an interest in the future of the Hillside is encouraged to attend the Draft HDP public review workshop on October 27, 2008 from 6-9pm at the Goldenview Middle School Cafeteria (15800 Golden View Drive). The workshop will begin with an introductory presentation from 6:00 to 6:30 pm, followed by an open house from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, and a wrap-up from 8:30 to 9:00 pm.

    Please come to the third series of workshops for the Hillside District Plan to share your ideas abut the Framework Plan alternatives (see below) with the Municipality and the Planning Team.
