September 2007 Newsletter Public Workshops in October! The second series of public workshops for the Hillside District Plan will be held October 10 & 11 in the Goldenview Middle School Cafeteria (15800 Golden View Drive). The purpose of these workshops is to review the Hillside Issues, Goals and Choices Report (see below). Each workshop will begin with a presentation from 6:00 to 6:30 pm, followed by small group discussions by topic from 6:45 to 7:55 pm, small group discussions by subdistrict from 8:00 to 8:45 pm and a wrap-up from 8:50 to 9:00 pm. A flyer (which includes a map to the school) can be downloaded here. Hillside Issues, Goals and ChoicesThe Hillside Issues, Goals and Choices Report gives an overview of the work done to date by the Planning Team with the help and oversight of the Citizen Advisory Committee, a 13-member advisory group whose members are broadly representative of the interests, expertise and perspectives of the greater community to be affected by the Hillside District Plan. More detailed information about each of the Hillside Issues, Goals and Choices Report subjects can be found in the corresponding Whitepapers. Please visit the Publications page on the Hillside District Plan website to view these reports. All reports will be posted prior to the workshops (we anticipate that they will be posted October 1 or 2). Next Steps The October workshops mark the end of Phase I of the Hillside District Plan. In the next stage of the planning process, the Planning Team will develop a series of alternatives for each of the topics/subdistricts identified for the Hillside District Plan. These alternatives will be based on the Issues, Choices and Goals report and public input from the October workshops. A third series of public workshops will be held in January to review the alternatives in the form of a Hillside Framework Plan that will be made available to the public prior to the workshops for review. To see a graphic representation of the whole process, click here. In the meantime, you can continue to stay involved in the Hillside planning process by visiting the website, attending meetings (see the HDP Schedule on the website), and sending your comments to the Planning Team.
